Assign Serial Numbers by Scanning at Job Close
Serial and Lot numbers can be assigned by the system as part of the job close process. But what if the serial or lot number was assigned as part of the production process and is already attached to the physical item? See how to scan and assign that serial number to the finished item during job close.
There are a number of Application Settings in the Production Control area that support this feature.
056 – Use Scanable Serial/Lot at Job Close enables the feature when set to Yes.
057 – Use Preamble? Tells the system whether the number you’re scanning has information in addition to the serial or lot number

When the above settings are on, clicking the Serial/Lot button when closing a Job for a Serial or Lot tracked item, will not prompt you to generate serial or lot numbers. The default Production Quantity on the Serial/Lot screen will be used as the default quantity when scanning the serial lot number.
Simply scan the serial/lot number on the physical item and the serial/lot number field will be populated by the scan. Continue to process the job close and the serial/lot number will be assigned to the finished item.
